Not familiar with the difference between Taekwondo, Karate, and Jiu-jitsu? Here’s what you need to know – instead of punching and kicking, grappling is all about getting your opponent to submit through physical strategy and dominance. People’s primary goal in joining a Martial Art may vary. Some join looking to get in shape or for its stress-relief effects. Others wish to improve their discipline and confidence. But most come to us for Jiu-Jitsu due to its efficiency on actual street self-defense. Behring Jiu-Jitsu gives anyone the ability to overcome any attacker regardless of size and strength. When grappling in Jiu-jitsu, you’ll spend the majority of your time fighting from the ground and will likely utilize many different types of chokes and joint locks.

Jiu-jitsu training can be used for street self-defense (anti-bullying, rape prevention, law enforcement) and sport grappling tournaments. The philosophy behind Jiu-Jitsu’s success lays in the following strategy:

*Close the distance and clinch

*Take the attacker/opponent to the ground

*Establish a safe and dominant position

*Finish the fight with the application of chokes or joint locks

This is a co-ed program for anyone 16 and over, with or without previous athletics experience.

We do hope to have a women’s only class in the near future as well.

Teenagers 13 and up that are signed up for our kids classes may also join our adults class as well for additional training.
Whether you’re looking for self-defense, empowerment, community, or stress relief, we hope you can find a place within our Jiu-jitsu family.  Come try a free week of class.
